Find space to connect.
Being in a relationship with someone you have strong feelings for, but can’t seem to connect with in the ways that matter to you, can be terribly straining. When you, your partner, or both of you are impacted by previous events or relationships, that closeness and connection can seem to elude you no matter what you do. Going through traumatic and stressful events can dramatically change our ability to relate and communicate with our loved ones, and exploring what you've learned about how to be in relationships can be a fruitful way to improve your romantic relationship.
My experience and specialty lives at the unique intersection of trauma and relationships, and so I am in a position to understand both how the trauma impacts your thoughts and feelings and how you behave in your relationships. Sometimes, processing trauma in individual work can help you and/or your partner show up in relationships in a healthier and more satisfying way than ever before. Other times, this work can be done in the context of couples therapy. Either way, I’ll ask you and your partner to show up together if possible and talk jointly about what you’re experiencing individually and together.
In my couples therapy work, I draw from trauma-informed evidence-based models, especially Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), as well as Gottman Couple Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).
For those who are in LGBTQ and polyamorous relationships, or those with diverse, alternative or kink-affiliated sexualities, looking for a safe and affirming space: please reach out to me, as I am passionate about growing my practice to meet your needs. In recognizing that my life experience is shaped by the privilege that my presentation as a white heterosexual cisgender woman affords me, I will want to work hard with you to understand your needs and build an open, honest, and trusting relationship from the start. I have experience and passion in working with non-monogamous couples and LGBTQ+ individuals, and am a kink-aware therapist.

all I ever wanted
was to sit by a fire with someone
who wanted me in measure the same to my wanting.
To want to make a fire with someone,
with you,
was all.
